nr. 832: Grisette Blond from Brasserie Friart. Smells good when opening the bottle. Lacks body, tastes a little watery. We taste sweet and slightly bitter, no after-taste. It's brother Amber/Ambree is better. 1 + .

nr. 834: Allure from brouwerij de Horste. A triple with quite a lot of carbonic acid, a little less wouldn't do harm. Taste is good. Sweet, bitter, fruity and smells good. First good one this evening, rated 2 + .

nr. 835: De leckere Winterbier from De Leckere. Winter beer in summer, oh well, it has to be tasted once, hasn't it? Ecologically brewed, we feel we're very environmentally engaged. Quite a heavy one by the way, 9,5%. Sweet, slightly bitter, bitter after-taste. Not bad, although te expectations were a little higher for this heavy beer. 1,5 + .

nr. 831: Bazuin II from Grolsche Bierbrouwerij. Another one of the "Proeftijd" (Tasting Time) beers, and of course, cinnamon again. No problem if you like cinnamon, which I do. Tasted individually, not together, and rated 1,5 + by the both of us.

nr. 827: Grolsch 2.5 Citron from Grolsche Bierbrouwerij. Only 2,5 %, which always makes me suspicious. The shop owner however assures me that it's a very good beer when you're thirsty. We take the risk and it's not bad. A soft lager with a light lemon taste. Drink it ice cold when it's hot outside. 1,5 +
nr. 828: Grisette Amber/Ambree from Friart. Smells good, usually a good sign. Fresh beer, hardly any bitter taste. 1,5 +
nr. 829: Witte Kerst 1999 van Gulpener Bierbrouwerij. I know, this Christmas beer should have been tasted 5 months earlier, but what the hell. Tastes good in spring too. Sweet, not bitter, slightly bitter after taste. 1,5 +
nr. 830: Bière du Corsaire Cuveé Speciale van Artevelde. Most remarkable is the bottle, painted red/brown with gold paper. A heavy one, 9,4%, good taste. 2 +

nr. 823: Malheur from de Landtsheer. In spite of the orange label a Belgian beer. Foaming well. Fruity scent but tastes somewhat white beer-like. A lot of taste impressions, slightly sour, slightly sweet, slightly bitter. A good beer so we rate it 2 +.
nr. 824: Wielrijdersbier (Bière du Cycliste) from du Bocq The shop owner considered it in between a white beer and a tripel, but we consider this one definitely a white beer. Old fashioned label designed to remember old days. Little foam. Good enough for a 1,5 +.
nr. 825: Mongozo from ? The label pretends a lot, but i can't find a brewery on it. For sure it is an African beer, 7% alcohol, which makes it a remarkable one. A peculiar taste, remembers me of a Lager i once drank in Egypt, whick made me quite sick. The slightly sour taste rules. We try our best but after a while we decide it's no use. The mongozo disappears in the kitchen sink, it's nog good enough to finish. The start of a new policy! We'll throw away what tastes bad. Rating: 0
nr. 826: Dulle Griet from the Schelde brouwerij Darkest beer this evening. First taste impression: SWEET. Quite sweet even. After fierce tasting we disover a Carameltaste. Tastes quite sweet. Besides that a slightly bitter after-taste comes through, and man, is this one sweet. We cannot detect more tastes. Did i mention dat it is really sweet? Not bad, but so sweet we can't give more than a 1 +
nr. 827: de Leckere Tripel from de Leckere Confusing because the same (small) brewery has another tripel. Same one? Remarkably it does not foam very well but we do taste quite some carbonide. Here too the main taste is sweet, but not as strong as with, okay, you know. A good tripel, but not a great one. 1,5 +.
nr. 828: Drakson Gold from the Drakson Company Is that the brewery? Doesn't ring a bell. Modern design label, basic but recognizable. Sweet and bitter, slightly bitter after-taste. Heavy one. And we expected more from such a heavy beer. We simply can't give it more than a 1 +
Which regrettably means that this was a very mediocre beer tasting night. First one was also the best one which is not the usual outcome. That's why I recommend some great ones that are too good to ignore: Houten Kop, Ijndejaarsbier from 't IJ, Moeder Overste and Hoegaarden Julius. Taste a couple of those!

nr. 818: Kerstbier from Jantjes Bierbrouwerij. The label looks somewhat amateurish, a quick drawing of Mrs. Santa in a Winter Wonderland. The colour is remarkably dark, against the light you can see that it is red brown. The scent is promising. We're not being disappointed. A good beer, slightly sweet and slightly bitter. The after-taste is slightly bitter and lastes long. Jantje can stay! 2+.
nr. 819: Petrus Winterbier from Bavik. Nice Christmas label with the unavoidable Santa. The last Petrus we drank was somewhat disappointing. This one cannot take away our negative feelings. Compared to nr. 818 it seems watery. The tasting impressions are quite flat. Slightly sweet, not bitter, no after-taste. Gijs thinks he tastes some spicy elements. Comment Gijs: " like one of them new Grolsch things. Make a beer, add some spices (preferably cinnamon) and there you go, another season's beer. We can't rate this beer more than a 1+.
nr. 820: Stille Nacht from de Dolle Brouwers. On principle I left this beer in the store for years. More than 4 guilders (nearly $2) for a bottle, are these brewers really mad, like their name suggests (dol = mad)? This year I couldn't resist, got to taste it once, don't we? The label smiles at us, at least the snowman in the wintry landscape. It smells very good. An 8 % barley wine, never tasted something like that. The taste impression is overwhelming. For starters it seems so thick that it feels like you have to chew it. The delicious sweet taste dominates, with slightly sour and slightly bitter behind it. The after-taste is slightly bitter. With the second pull you get used to the sweet taste and the more you drink, the better it gets. Not for novices, but for the experienced a great one. We decide unanimous to a 2,5 +.
nr. 821: Corsendonck Christmas Ale from er… forgot that one. I'll look it up later. De 4th Corsendonck. The other three were all pretty good, with the Agnus en de Agnus Dei (are quite alike) as the better ones. Nice label with stylish silver-paper on top. I open the bottle and it overflows immediately. Damn! I transported it by car 3 hours ago. Perhaps my own fault. The taste: slightly sweet and slightly bitter, a little spicy. Remarkable is the bitter after-taste that lasts long. All and all a good beer, scoring a 1,5 +.
In connection with Christmas we chose for Christmas/winter beers. To be sure of an ending in style we close the evening with an old champion: Binchoise Spéciale Noël, a smash hit. Look it up!
