My Moke is a 1974 model built in Zetland NSW with (I think) a 1975/76 front
grille on it, as I believe true 1974 Australian models had a fixed grille.
The engine is a 1098cc model and I believe is the original engine which I
have reconditioned once. Currently the engine has done about 50,000 miles
and still shows no sign of smoking. I purchased my Moke in 1981 and I paid
$850 Australian dollars for it. The only thing I have added to the Moke is
the roll bar which I made one afternoon after copying the measurements from
a Moke Californian. Apart from the engine recondition in 1988/89 I have
spent very little on it. It just goes on for ever and ever! I use the car
as often as possible, it also does a lot of work on my 10acre property
carrying large stones to my garden area, pulling thick scrub into the
burning paddock, carrying all the fencing gear and barb wire, carrying heavy
pumps in and out of the creek bed etc, it's my work horse and pleasure car I
would not do without. My property is also very hilly and the Moke climbs
the slopes almost as good as a four wheel drive.
Yes...I'm a Moke fan!!
