While there was no Catalogue or workable Listing of my topic, I started collecting as much information about existing Stamps
with a "Map" on it. I used the Michel Catalogues as a reference and have put all the essential information in a database. This
resulted in my opinion in the first -up-to-date reference work about "Maps on Stamps". Presently the database contents
approximately 30.000 stamps but I know it is far from complete. Everyday I find something I forgot or overlooked so the
database is still growing, on the otherside everyday new stamps are published and I add them tomy database as well.

Using the Grading system of the Carto Philetic Association (for further information see the introduction page) I give some
examples of "Maps on Stamps". You can see, it is much more than just a map. There are various maps: Historical, Nautical,
Meteorological,Political,Physical, as an emblem (UN) but even Globes, in various forms with and without surface features, as an
emblem: UPU, UIT, stylized. Views from Space of the Earth, Cityplans with road layout. But even Mapmakers and their
equipment is part of the collection. As part of my own collection I added Geographical Discoverers (DI) to the database.
