The westfrisian Dance Groupe Schagen was founded in 1954 . The idea was to have some performances on Westfriesian Thursdays to show visitors our Westfriesian folklore. In the course of time these Westfrisian Thursdays have developed into folkloristic days of national prestige with quite regularly an international tinge. Our dance group has grown accordingly.
It goes without saying that he performances at the Schagen market the central issue, but besides these there are performances at home and abroad. It is possible to taste the atmosphere of Westfrisian folklore with its splendid costums in your own town. Besides the many activities in homes for the elderly, at markets, in hotel for foreign tourists, our group is often present at national manifestations. The group has 50 members, musicians included. The programme constints of traditional and farmers’ dances alternated with performances of our orchestra and something of our entertainer. If you would to hear and see something of our folklore in your own place, we quarantee you some delightful Westfrisian hours.
