Het Nederlands Stookolieslachtoffer-Onderzoek (NSO) werd in 1977 opgezet en is tegenwoordig een activiteit van de Nederlandse Zeevogelgroep (NZG). De tellingen vormen een voortzetting van olie­slachtoffertellingen zoals die door de Nederlandse Jeugdbond van Natuurstudie (NJN) sinds 1960 werden georganiseerd. In het archief van het NSO bevinden zich gegevens van tellingen sinds 1915, officieel het eerste jaar waarin olieslachtoffers in Nederland werden aangetroffen.

                Stookolieslachtoffertellingen worden door vrijwilligers verspreid over het gehele land en gedurende het gehele jaar uitgevoerd, maar de nadruk ligt op de winterperiode (nov-apr). De landelijke coördinatie is in handen van:

Op afzonderlijke webpagina's worden de vondsten sterk verkort weergegeven. Voor tellers bieden deze sites inzicht in de verwerking van de door hen opgestuurde gegevens. Daarnaast kan op deze pagina's gezien worden hoeveel vogels van elk van de soorten de laatste tijd op de Nederlandse kust zijn aangespoeld en hoeveel olie er in het spel is geweest. De NZG/NSO stookolieslachtoffertellingen worden van 2000 tot en met 2004 uitgevoerd met financiële ondersteuning van Directie Noordzee van het Ministerie van Verkeer en Waterstaat.

 

Dutch beached bird surveys, named Nederlands Stookolieslachtoffer-Onderzoek (NSO), became established in 1977 and are currently one of the main activities of the Dutch Seabird Group, (Nederlandse Zeevogelgroep, NZG). The surveys are a continuation and expansion of work conducted by the Nederlandse Jeugdbond van Natuurstudie (NJN) since 1960. NSO files contain data on beached birds in The Netherlands since 1915, when oiled seabirds were first reported in The Netherlands.

                Beached bird surveys are conducted by volunteers all over the country and through the year, with emphasis on the winter period (Nov-Apr). National co-ordinator and contact address:

The birds and mammals found dead are listed for each month in the present season on separate web pages. Links to these can be found on top of this page. For our volunteers, these pages show whether or not their data have been received and processed. Besides, the pages give an idea of species composition, numbers of animals found dead, and oil rates in the period concerned.

 

NZG/NSO beached bird surveys are financially suported by the North Sea Directorate of the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Waterways during 2000 tot 2004.
