Tomb figurines of grooms
Grooms with non-Chinese features illustrate the great number
of foreigners who came to China. All foreigners were called "barbarians"
by the Chinese. Persians, North Iranians from various West Asian
lands, Western Turks, Altaic Turks, Eastern Turks, Malays,
Indonesians, and people from countries south of the border, such
as Champa and Cambodia, were pulled to the big cities of Tang
China.
