A great disaster happened in the Atlantic Ocean near Nantucket Island ( east of New York ).
A collision between two passenger
Oceanliners.

The Italian oceanliner:
ANDREA DORIA
Time: 11.10 p.m.
The Andrea Doria, one of the most beautiful oceanliners ever made in history, started her descent into the ocean.Many hours after the collision she was fighting for her live, but at least she died and sunk to the bottom of the sea on the 26 th of July 1956.( 10.09 a.m.)
51 people died also but for all the other passengers and crew it became the greatest resque operation in history .
