Our neighbors haystackFinally some sun after days of rain that turned the south of the Netherlands and parts of Europe once again into a giant swimming pool.

ReedThe continental highs and good weather continued with even frost during the day. Since Thursday we were able to skate again. It also gave us a wonderful opportunity to check out the surroundings, the reedlands and marches leading to the lake.

Binnenhof, The HagueTaking a walk thru The Hague. A week before the elections the Binnenhof (the square that forms the heart of the Dutch parliament) is amazingly quiet. All the politicians are out of town for their once-every-four-years roundtrip thru the country collecting votes. In a few days it's going to be a giant circus here, when all the politicians (and media) gather around the Binnenhof again to form a new coalition government.

Ponte S. Trinita, Florence
Florence was a breathtaking experience. Never been to a more beautiful city with such a cultural density on 4 square miles. Wonderful food, wine and some very relaxed people that know how to celibrate life completed the picture.

Perseus and Medusa, Piazza della Signoria, FlorenceOn our walks thru the city we encountered a bunch of very enthusiastic volonteers of the Lautari-community, a Tuscan housing and educational project for the rehabilitation of HIV-infected drugaddicted people Homepage Lautari community.

An example for many drugassistance organisations that have a tendency of condoning the use of drugs. An example also for the hedonistic gay community that could do with a bit of their idealism and solidarity.
