Linocut by Eddy Varekamp

We've spent the last couple of days on choosing a kitchen for our stable, natural stone for on the floor and bathroom equipment. A lot of choices to be made.

Now it's time to reward ourselves with a little treat for all the work we've done. While we stroll along the Amsterdam canals we pass by this little art-shop of Eddy Varekamp. Today the master himself is present. We go in. And what could be more appropriate for in our stable than these three men and a fat cock?!? (Did we forget to mention the pigeons?)

The Rhodes gay cruising zone.

Homosexuality in Greece is still a big taboo. A recent survey in the Athens News (The Athens News (weekly newspaper)) indicates that more than 80 % of the population still considers it an abnormality. Only a few of the Baltic states score worse in Europe. At the same time many so-called straight Greek men engage in anal man-to-man action, the so-called Greek Way.

Because of this hypocrisy there's only one gay bar on the second largest Greek island of Rhodes. So what do you do as a gay man if you want to meet other gay men: you go to a park for a stroll and by doing so endorse a widespread prejudice.

The fireman of the hammam.

But there are other options for gays as well on Rhodes. Though not less prejudice confirming: the local bathhouse. Which happens to be a very old Turkish hammam. It's a beautiful place. On the back of the building we run into this muscled and very friendly fireman, who's stoking the fire for us.
