Inside-Outside is an independent foundation that offers services
to American prisoners serving a death sentence or a LWOP sentence, who are
looking for someone to correspond with.
Underlying basis of the foundation are articles 3 and 5 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: "Every one has a right to life, liberty and security of person" "No one shall be subjected to torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment." We believe that each human being, no matter which crime he or she has been accused of, has the right to communicate with people from outside prison walls. We are not against punishment, but we strongly oppose cruel, inhuman punishment, including the death penalty. By way of advertising and publicity we try to find people in The Netherlands and Belgium who would be interested in corresponding. Inside-Outside was founded in 1992. It is a non-profit organisation run by several board members, who work voluntarily. The financial basis of the foundation consists mainly of contributions made by our members.
