Het Grasbroek

Het Grasbroek is a small lake that is located nearby the A1 highway between Hengelo and Rijssen and is owned by a farmer. This is one of my favorite dive spots in The Netherlands. There is a healthy fish population and a lot of underwater vegetation. The visibility range varies between 0.50 and 8 meters, which is a little bit above average.

From May until October is the best time to dive in The Netherlands. In this period water temperatures range between 10 °C and 23 °C. Often you can find various thermo clines in one dive spot, at the bottom of these type of lakes they are usually around 7 °C.

Easy entrance. Dive spots in The Netherlands often have similar entrances like these and aren't that crowded.

Of course there is no coral reef or a big sunken ship in small lakes like these, so often object are sunken to make the diving a little bit more interesting, like this small boat.

More objects: these large tubes are big enough for one diver.

The underwater vegetation..

One of the many suspicious young snooks hiding

On the watch..

Small fresh water crayfish in abundance

Especially smaller species of fish can be found in the Dutch lakes.
