| Kota Manado (kota=centre/city). Manado is a dirty and hot city with approximately 450.000 inhabitants. |

You can also find a lot of blue transport vans (bemos) and banks in Manado. Despite the dirt everywhere, I still got the impression Manado is quite an up market city for Indonesian standards. |

The
harbor of Manado is by far the dirtiest area of the city. A lot of garbage
near Manado is thrown into a river that ends up in the harbor of Manado.
I've never seen and smelled anything like it. From here you can get an
affordable public boat to Bunaken or one of the other nearby islands. |

Once
a year there's a Chinese New Year celebration in Manado. It's basically
a parade from starting and ending at the Chinese temple. I took these
photos on February 12th 2003. Very impressive and worth attending. |

Ince Pia). This is definitely NOT fake! They seamed to be in a sort of
trance. |
