| On the painful way to the heart of the Tangkoko National Park you'll pass a dozen of these tiny villages. The home stays are located in the village 'Batu Putih' at the end of the ride. |

There are truly untouched beaches near Batu Putih. |

This
friendly local asked us to join him for lunch with his freshly caught
fish. After staring at me for a long time, he asked to my Indonesian friend
if I was human! |

Tangkoko
is famous for several special species of wildlife, but this must be the
biggest one. The Tarsier / Tarsius Monkey. It's the smallest nocturnal
monkey in the world and feeds on insects. Over here it doesn't live in
captivity, like in other places. |

Since I was an enthusiastic fan of the strong local Palm wine (Cap Tikus
= Rat Brand), one guy from the village took me to one of these factories
in the jungle. Cap Tikus is a strong distilled version (up to 90%) of
a liquid they get from a certain type of palm tree. No wonder some locals
get blind or die because of the high level of methanol in Cap Tikus. |
