Before Mao came on the fore another revolution kept the attention of many people.  It was the Cuban Revolution of 1959.There it seems all great , Havanna was a place of hookers, gamblers and everything you could imagine. There was also a big difference between the happy few and a great majority of the population. It was not a communist revolt. Therefore this revolution made a deep impression in the Third World. The leaders were young and heroic.But the Cuba leaders choose for communism and with this choice  the ideals of the revolution were over. Che Guevara  brought the revolution abroad . He was killed  and became a martyr.  Martyrs are always welcome for the new leaders after a revolution. 

 

 

   It gives also people hope that the battle against poverty will always continue.The revolution in Cuba  had everything you want to promote a revolution .Young leaders, A land of sun , And the USA as foe.It seems the only thing to do was to get rid of landowners  and everybody would be happy.And mass excecutions were not proclaimed which does not mean that they did not take place.The USA had imposed a ban on sugar. Castro needed help from russia. The USA thought at first that the Revolution in Cuba was a communist revolution. This was not right but by trying to harm the economy he drove Castro towards Russia and so Castro  went on the road of socialism. Leninism became  now the leading ideology.   Read Next
