Lullacry - Crucify my Heart
Century Media 2003

Writing for a magazine is fun but sometimes you have to write something which you don’t even like. Off course you have to be as subjective as possible, so here I am reviewing the new CD of Lullacry named “Crucify My Heart”. This is the third album of the Finland based atmospheric heavy rock band and the first with the new female vocalist Tanja. Although she is a very pretty looking girl, her voice isn’t really fantastic. She sings ok but you have to like the singing style she has.
You can compare the music with the new sensation Evanescence but they never reach the quality of their album. They may not have had the same budget as them but where Evanescence has some really exciting songs Lullacry hasn’t. This doesn’t mean their songs are bad. For somebody who likes this genre it is a good CD. The production is good, the musicians are good and if you like female vocalists like Tanja this album is sure to be recommended to you.

The album has eleven songs, which are a mixture between heavy rock and gothic metal. They sometimes touch the heavy edge of the gothic metal. One of my favorite songs on this album is the catchy and even heavy “Over Me”. The majority of the songs are most of all very poppy and should do very well on radio stations. But like most “metal” bands they’ll be ignored because “it’s too loud” and there aren’t enough listeners for it, ashame, because with some radioplay Lullacry could become really big in the pop-metal scene.

 68/100
