| Description | Shell up to ca. 55 mm high, fragile, semi-transparent, weakly inflated, nearly circular, left valve slightly more convex than right valve, inequivalve, slightly inequilateral, oblique, gaping rather strongly, auricles smooth and relatively small and equal in size, colour left valve usually brownish, right valve creamy or whitish. Left valve with delicate commarginal growth lines, sometimes with some commarginal lamellae near ventral margin. Delicate radial lirae near posterior margin. Right valve with regularly and widely spaced commarginal lirae. Internal ribs generally 8, deep brown on left valve, paler and broader on right valve. Byssal notch and ctenolium lacking. |
