Fiscal stamps

Fiscal stamps resemble to stamps and they can easily be confused sometimes. Fiscal stamps were sometimes used postally (as in many British colonies). Many fiscal stamps exist in Italy, they have a text like 'MARCA DI BOLLO'. They often give much confusion with beginning collectors because of their strong resemblance to ordinary postage stamps.

Railway stamps

Example of a railway stamp of France

Railway stamps were issued in for example Belgium and France, the shown picture shows a non issued railway stamp of France.

Non issued stamps

Non issued stamp of Latvia (Russia)

Non issued stamp of Epirus

An issue with a double haeded eagle was prepared for Latvia. A colonel from the army wanted to set up a postal service. However, he never succeeded. The stamps were sold to dealers. Later, many reprints of these stamps were made, so they can be found rather easily.

In Epirus (a region in the north of Greece and the south of Albania) many non-issued stamps exist. Next to the two headed eagle shown here another issue with a two headed eagle exists. Also stamps with a woman figure can be found.

In the war between Spain and the United States in 1898, Cuba was occupied by the United States. The stamps that were prepared with inscription '1898 y 1899' with the arms of Spain could of course no longer be used.

Some values of figures with flames etc. were issued in Odessa. They never got into use, I don't have much information about this issue. A 50 kop stamp with a man breaking chains is probably a bogus issue from Russia.

Non issued stamp of Albania 'Posta vetekeverria e mirdities'

Stamps with the inscription 'Posta Vetekeverria E Mirdities' are non issued stamp for the Mirdites Republic in Albania, there exist values of 5, 10, 25, 50 qint and of 1 Frank, one value surcharged '25 Qint' on 1 Frank. The first 5 values exist also surcharged with 'TAKSE' to serve as postage due stamps.

Envelopes, Postcards etc.

Envelope of Brunswick (Germany)

In the early days of stamp collecting envelopes and postcards were collected aswell as stamps. The seals were just cut out of the envelopes. An example of such a cut from Brunswick (Germany) is shown here. Nowadays, they are not much collected. Often they ressemble postage stamps.
