Wesley II of the Talking Cats, known just as
Wesley or Wessel, was the big scaredy-cat of our
family. Even though he was the
biggest cat in the house.
At the age of 12 weeks he entered our home
as a companion for Thomas. They became very best friends.
They always liked
sleeping in each others company, no matter how many cats there were in the
household.
Wesley was a 21 year old dream come
true. Wesley never disappointed us. With his gentle nature
and manners, he
showed everyone how nice Siamese cats can be. When we had our first litter,
Wesley showed
his Siamese nature. He was the big uncle where every kitten was welcome
for a nap
or a wash. And he didn't mind being the focus of their games. Wesley showed
himself
a real family man and he will be remembered for it.
During the summer of 2007, Wesley became a
little thin and lethargic. Not much,
but enough to have us worry. Our vet
couldn't find much, so we did a full blood panel. The result
wasn't good. He was
finally caught by his pedigree, and like many others his kidneys were shutting
down.
Wesley had chronic renal failure. He got medications and a diet, but
unfortunately he refused to eat
his diet. Knowing that crf is fatal, we decided
to keep him comfortable to the end and not let him suffer.
Just a week after we lost Max, Wesley
turned for the worst.
A new blood panel showed that his kidneys lost almost all
of their function. Then two days later, the other cats,
even his closest friend
Snoes, started to leave him alone. The cats themselves decided that it was time
for him,
so we made another call to our vet.
That afternoon Wesley went over the
bridge, on my lap. Also surrounded by his human and feline family.
Like Max,
Wesley is buried in our garden.
Rest in peace, Wesley, our little hero on
lilac socks.
The three mouseketeers, Thomas, Max and Wesley are together again.
