We are standing on top of "Haytor Rock".

"Tors" are formed in this way: molten rock below the earth's surface (magma) wells up and, after coagulation, turns into granite. Later, in weathering processes that take millions of years, parts of the granite are subject to erosion. Only some granite peaks, the so-called "tors", are left.
