The "Aubrac"-plateau near the village of "Nasbinals". During the last ice-age, this plateau was covered by a 350 square kilometers large glacier. At that time many depressions were created, due to glacial erosion. When the glacier started to melt after the ice-age, many small lakes were formed in the depressions. Rivers, like this one below, carried water from these lakes to the edges of the plateau.

Nowadays, the lakes are gone because they were completely filled with sediment, but the rivers remained.
