After the short fieldwork in the "Roussillon"-region, we traveled to the "Jura"-region. Here we participated in a four week geomorphologic fieldwork.
The fieldwork took place in the part of the Jura that is known as the "Region of the Lakes". In groups of 2 students we had to map a particular area in this region. As I mentioned before, we tried to reconstruct how tectonic forces, rivers, lakes and glaciers shaped the landscape.

Map (92 k) of the part of the Jura-region in which the fieldwork took place. The framework marks the area I had to map. This area was 12 kilometers long and 3 to 7 kilometers wide. The largest town in this area was the town of "Champagnole". (The map is taken from the RV Euro-Atlas of France). |
