Tuesday, 14th of August 2001:    Killarney - Bunratty - Ennistimon

Rain, rain and more rain! But that did not matter because this day we to make a long trip in northern direction. After two or three hours driving we arrived in the village of Bunratty, located some 15 kilometers west of the city of Limerick.

Here you will find the Bunratty Folk Park, an open-air museum that shows life in Ireland at the beginning of the 20th century. Some typical Irish cottages, which had to be pulled down to create enough space for the construction of the nearby "Shannon Airport", were rebuilt in the park. Replicas of an old school, a post-office and, of course, a pub are also built here.

Adjacent to the Folk Park you'll find the Bunratty Castle, a castle that is restored in the medieval style on the outside as well as on the inside. Here, twice a day you can participate in a traditional, medieval banquet.
