Wednesday, 8th of August 2001:    Dublin

On Tuesday-evening, after a long day of driving and taking a ferry twice, we arrived in Dublin. On Wednesday, we spent the entire day to explore the Irish capital Dublin.

In the picture you see the Saint Patrick's Cathedral, named after Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. According to ancient legends, in the fifth century A.D. Patrick began to convert the Celts to Christianity. It is said that at the location of today's Saint Patrick's Cathedral, during the fifth century a well was located. A well in which Patrick baptized the Celts.

The construction of the cathedral started in the 13th century, and ended in 1749 with with the construction of the current tower.
