This picture is taken from the same spot as the previous picture, now looking downstream. The canyon is called "Jökulsárglúfur" and is cut into the basalt by the river "Jökulsá á Fjöllum". It is Iceland's longest canyon. The water in the river is grey-coloured because of the large amount of sediment that is transported by the river. Each year, the river transports 5 million tons of sediment.
