Crossing the "Sprengisandur" took a very long time because it isn't possible to drive faster than about 30 kilometers an hour. Early evening we arrived at this camping site at "Landmannalaugar". "Landmannalaugar" is a special place because instead of black basalt, this area is characterized by the yellow colored type of rock called "rhyolite". The area is also well known because of hot springs near the camping site. Bathing in some of those hot springs is very popular. After this stop, we drove further to the village of "Kirkjubæjarklaustur", near the southern coast. It was past ten o'clock when we arrived in "Kirkjubæjarklaustur", tired and very hungry.
