Monday, 9th of August 1999: Beaufort - Wiltz - Vianden - BeaufortAfter driving to camping "Plage" (in the village of Beaufort) on Sunday, we used the second day of our holiday to drive around in the central part of the country. This picture shows an overview over the valley of the Sūre-river, as seen from the ruins of the castle of Bourscheid. The castle was built in the 12th century on a mountain, 150 meters above the river. The geology of Luxembourg is characterized by limestones and sandstones of Triassic-age (245-208 million years ago) that created large plateaus, in which small rivers cut their valleys.
