....it was getting dark quite fast, and 30 seconds later the moment was there: the solar eclipse! We could hear people cheer in a nearby village, in the distance a balloon took off, down the left of the corona we could see the planet Venus, a protuberans was visible at the surface of the sun... Without saying a word we looked at this wonderful sight. It wasn't completely dark. There was twilight, like you normally see half an hour after sunset. Suddenly, the two minutes of the eclipse had passed. The corona disappeared, the sun returned. We could only scream with extasy. Just at that moment, we realized that we had seen one of the most beautiful wonders of nature. We drove back to our friends who stayed in the field. They also had seen the eclipse. As we were still talking about the event, it again started to rain so we were lucky that day! Between the showers it had been dry for just 30 minutes. We had been at the right spot at the right time. Because of the rain we decided to drive back to Luxembourg but we were not the only ones who made that decision: the highway between Sarreguemines and Trier was one long traffic jam but that didn't bother us. We had seen the eclipse, that was all that counted that day. Mission completed!
