Only 10 minutes before the eclipse was about to happen we could see the reflection of the sunlight in the windscreen of Ralph's car, who was driving just behind us. We immediately stopped our cars, stepped out and put up our eclipse glasses. With the adrenaline still running through our veins, we looked at the narrow sickle. It struck me that it still wasn't dark, although more than 90 percent of the sun was covered. There was a strange, silver-colored light.

As seconds passed, it was getting more and more quiet. Birds became silent, agricultural machines stopped. And then, all of a sudden........
