Please find my sand collection. I'll tell you a bit about it.
In previous years had a travel doll,
Travel Ann. She showed me places I would never see, she was a houseguest
at many, many friendly homes. When she quit her travels she found her final
foster parents to stay.
Now, where I had Travel Ann, my
sister had her sand collection. I glanced at it every now and then, and
managed to contribute.
One day I wanted a sand collection
for myself and I asked doll friends, bead friends and Toller friends to
contribute. And boy they did. Any surplus that I received went directly
into my sister's collection.
Then she decided to have her sand
in smaller containers so I could have all that she had already.
It is heartwarming how people want
to contribute and send me a sample of the sand in places they visit. Sometimes
people send sand from their hometown, sometimes from trips they make across
the world.
If you have looked at my sand before,
you will notice I re-did my sand pages. It was hard to work with the way
I had it and to top it off, the glass bottles were cracking. Plastic containers
were ordered and I have been putting the sand from the bottle into the
container and made all new pictures. Needed a good amount of time for that,
and finaly I have some perfect pics, some that are ok, and some that are
not good enough. Nonetheless, I wil leave it there, it is too hard to make
pictures of a constant quality -and keep the right number for reference
with the right picture - and zoom in to the sand rather than to the lid
of the container. I decided to keep the pictures as is, in order to not
mess around with the sand too much. I apologize to you if YOUR sand did
not get a perfect picture.
From here I wil no longer talk about 'friends' or 'people' but YOU.
The new set-up gives your sands
in sets of 12 per page. This helps me sort out the pictures or postcards
you sent me so kindly. There are many ways to sort your sand but I like
to keep it in order of arrival.
A page for The Netherlands would
be possible, one for the Dutch Wadden Islands or provinces, one for Europe,
one for America, one for each continent et cetera.
Since a set up like that would
hardly be workable your sands will be put up in 12's. One exception: a
lot of you live in the United States and have been so frinedly to help
Princess get her quarters so I made a separate page to pair your quarters
to your sand. For your viewing pleasure and as a thank you.
