"ATTENTIVE PHOTOGRAPHY" Martin Kers is known mainly as a landscape photographer. Very similar to a collector, he has sought and remains seeking for remarkable places in the Netherlands. There are but few tracks and motorways along which he has not traveled. Nine books containing his photographs have been issued with success. These comprise three books entitled "Rotterdam", "Amsterdam" and "European Coastlines", two books about the Dutch landscape, two books made in assignment for the Dutch National Inheritance and recently: Holland Land of Water", a pictorial presentation of the watermanagement. In terms of photography, for him the Dutch borders no longer exist. He has made his photo-graphs at more than a hundred locations in the world, from the blue ice of Patagonia to the somber hues of the Northern regionss and the crystal clear horizons of Kalimantan in Indo-nesia. Furthermore, he has visited the native inhabitants of Vanuatu, ice places in Japan, Cordillera de Los Andes, oceans, deserts, metropoles and made great train journeys in many parts of the world. He presents the best images which occur to him whether it be a landscape, a wooded area, a city or an industrial site. Sensitive reports which show great feeling for detail. The photographic series lend themselves to be read as fascinating and interesting stories. With friendly greetings, Marijke Kers |
