Sogetsu Ikebana by Marja

My Arrangements & Objects

Sogetsu-Ikebana is an art that finds its roots in the traditional Ikebana disciplines.

In case you like to learn more about this subject, you can find official information, published by the headquarters of the Sogetsu School in Tokyo, under Interesting Ikebana Sites on this Home Page.

Working in free style Sogetsu Ikebana is only possible when you keep in mind the fundamental basic styles. These are essential for 3-dimensional arrangements or objects. Personally I find it a challenge to create an object or arrangement with materials found on scrap-heaps or in waste-bins of factories processing aluminium, iron, copper, Perspex, glass and such, combined with fresh or dry flowers, branches, leaves, sea-weed, etc. One can also find interesting materials in hardware shops.Combining above mentioned materials with special made ceramic is another way of working in which I find great pleasure.Taking into account the environment in which the arrangement will be placed: indoors, garden, window, shop, hall, hotel foyer or factory floor, one finds endless inspiration to create an interesting piece of work.

In the Picture Gallery you will find some of my works.

On the Lessons page I shall regularly elucidate a lesson given to my students, in order to offer you the possibility to create an arrangement of your own.

I hope you enjoy my Home Page.
