About Me... Hey there, all you A-team lovers! Yes, here it is. That page I've dreaded doing ever since I started my site, but knew I couldn't avoid forever... |

Yes, that's me at the top of the page. My name's Christina. Christina Martens, to be exact.
Welcome to my site, to this " About me" page and thank you for sharing "The A-team" experience with me. I have been enjoying the fun since the show hit the airwaves in 1983, and If you believe that because of that I have to be a really old dame... Well, you won’t get any argument from me there. Even after all these years I just can’t help but enjoy everything about the show. Watching it makes me feel good and whenever I find new photos or interviews about it I relive that "A-team"-feeling all over again.
I never ever imagined I would start my own site, let alone a site about our favorite guys, but I’m sure you’ll agree with me that the Internet has made it possible for everyone to get in touch with people all over the world who share your feelings. No matter how silly (to others) the subject of your interest may seem. And believe me, I have been ridiculed, down-right laughed at and so on, because of my love for this show and its actors. If you could only hear how people respond to the wallpapers sporting my two pc's at the office. One has a "sensuous and strong" Murdock (thanks Jipster!), the other shows a very handsome smiling George. But, ridiculed or not, I always find comfort in knowing that there are people out there who are just as crazy as I am.
How did I get interested in the show? Dirk Benedict's initially the reason for that. He was one of the stars of " Battlestar Galactica" and I just loved (and still love) that show, so I became a member of Dirk's fanclub (1983-1984). When the newsletter announced that Dirk was in a new show called " The A-team" I hoped and prayed it would be shown on Dutch television, and yep... my prayers were answered. Better yet, Dirk, Dwight and Mr. T. even visited our little country in 1984.
"The A-team" became instantly popular in The Netherlands, so magazines featured lots of articles and photos on the show and I tried to buy all the magazines I could lay my hands on (read: afford). I also "discovered" a wonderful actor called George Peppard. I haven't been able to get enough of his lovely blue eyes and charming smile yet. Thinking about the fact that he is no longer with us, still makes me sad.
What do I do all day? Like so many people, I work. Do I like my job? You bet! As a matter of fact, this site wouldn't even exist if it weren't for my job. That's right, like a lot of you Webmasters out there, I'm in the computer-business. I live and work in The Hague, The Netherlands, where I was born and raised. Oh... allright, I'll tell you when. I was born on October 2nd, 1964. I'm an applications manager at a governmental-institute, where I started out as a secretary almost 15 years ago.
What do I like to do with my spare time? Well, I've always liked collecting material about televisionseries. Before " The A-team" came along I started collections on series like " Star Trek", " Alias Smith & Jones", " Rich Man, Poor Man" and " Battlestar Galactica". My love for all of these shows has been going on strong, so I'm always searching for new stuff to complete my collections. That means making frequent visits to second-hand bookstores and going to flea markets a lot.
What if I'm not busy working or looking for new material? I love listening to music (just couldn't go through life without it) and like watching a good movie (classic or new) every once in a while. Of course I also spend quite a number of hours a week behind my pc. It may not all seem much, but there are times when there are simply not enough hours in a day for me to do the things I want to do, and one thing I really wanted to do was making this site.
Why did I want to make this site? I noticed that there were quite a number of "A-team"-sites, but that a lot of them were featuring the same material over and over again. Don't get me wrong, they are good sites and I have found a lot of new material on them, but I believe there has to be so much more out there, for I know there are people who, like me, have been hanging on to their collection. But nevertheless, I'm happy to know that "The A-team" hasn't lost its charm after all these years and that it has become appealing to a younger generation as well. Making this site is my way of sharing my good fortune with you. I don't know how long I can keep it going, but for now, enjoy!
Well, I guess that's it. Now you know a little bit about me and what makes me tick. One Webmaster once told me that most visitors weren't really interested in the person behind the site, but for those of you who are, I hope I've managed to satisfy your curiosity. Hope you'll find it worth your while to visit my site again. See ya!
Enjoy your visits.
Christina
