The Sweetest Thing

In this film Cameron Diaz finds herself forced to educate herself on the etiquette of wooing the opposite sex when she finally meets Mr.Right (Thomas Jane). There's going to be wedding scene in it, but not of Cameron. If Cameron had played the bride she would be the only actress who married more in her movies (4) than in real life (0). Another part will be played by Christina Applegate (Married with Children). The director on this romantic comedy is Roger Kumble. He took part of the crew who worked on There's Something About Mary. I think this is one of the big hits in 2002.

Vanilla Sky

Vanilla Sky is an English remake of the Spanish Abre los Ojos, directed by Alejandro Amenábar.
In this movie, which is dated for Christmas 2001, Cameron will feature along Tom Cruise. She will play his ex-girlfriend who commits suicide by driving her car of a bridge while he's sitting next to her. The man survives, but his face (and life) is badly scared. Now the thriller starts. The man who is in love with the girl of his dreams, played by the beautiful Penélope Cruz, seems to lose any sense between reality and fiction.

You should really check out the trailer and try to figure out what's happening with Cruise. You can spot it at www.vanilla-sky.com. Or when you just can't wait, you can get the film Abre los Ojos (Open your eyes - 1997) like I did. You will be dazzled! I like to describe it as a combination of The Game and L'appartement.

Penélope Cruz plays also played in the original. Cameron Diaz plays another bitchy role like in She's the One, but less nice, and another deadly role like in Invisible Circus. Vanilla Sky is directed by Cameron Crowe who is known for Jerry Maguire.

The Gangs of New York

The movie settles in the 19th century New York with the first major gangwars between Irish and Italian descendants. It features Leonardo Di Caprio as Amsterdam Vallon, whose destined to take revenge on Bill "The Butcher" Poole for his fathers death. Cameron Diaz will play Jenny, the girl in love with Amsterdam.
I wouldn't think of it as the right combination, but ofcourse Cameron is professional enough to play the part. We won't have to fear a off-set relationship since the personal characters of both actors are complete opposite.
The movie is directed by Martin "The Godfather" Scorsese and the part of Bill Poole will be played by Daniel Day-Lewis. Other names mentioned are Liam Neeson (StarWars part 1), Pete Postlethwaite and Toby Maguire.
