Day Of The Dragon
As I started reading I noticed it was going to be lots different than I expected. At first I did not understand all of it. But it's meant to be that way I think. All will become clear as you read on. I think it is a very good book. It was hard for me to stop when I started. It's a must read for Warcraft fans, but I think people who hardly know Warcraft will like the book too. It's the story of a quest. This quest made by only few people, gives it a Lord Of The Rings-like event, only then in the Warcraft world. They have it's differences and similarities. Though Lord Of The Rings is of course much bigger, this one is maybe as exciting as the famous trilogy.

Lord Of The Clans
With this second book, I had some higher anticipations, but I wasn't let down. Again another good book. As the story begins this one is much more clear the the previous, but that doesn't make any difference to the quality of the book, in my opinion. I think that this books is just as any other from the series good for everyone, but especially those who like Warcraft, Like to play the campaign, to know more about the story which is beneath are that slaughter. As Day Of The Dragon has a similarity with Lord Of The Rings, this book is more getting near Gladiator. There is no actual quest, more a slave struggling to survive and gain his freedom. It's a good story of honor.

The Last Guardian
The last of the three books... what's there to say? It was very different from what I thought it would be. I expected it to be a story of Medivh's struggling mind. The struggling mind part was correct, though it was Kadghar, Medivh's to-be apprentice, who had it. With the knowledge I already knew on Medivh and his life, some parts were not so surprising for me. Despite that, the story still had enough 'secrets' on this tale to tell me. I don't think this can be compared to any other book or movie I know. It was unique to me. With all books read it's clear these are meant to be books, not an extension to the Warcraft story alone, though all ends are as open as possible.

War Of The Ancients
The Well Of Eternity
The first of the trilogy War of the Ancients.
A good book, though time traveling makes some things quite strange... For example, Mannoroth sees Brox who traveled back through time and because of Brox his wishes to learn more about the Orcs, what would probably lead to enslaving them and leading them into Azeroth, while that action actually makes Brox able to go back through time and 'show' himself to Mannoroth... Bit confusing, hey? Well, anyway, it's a nice book, which tells the tale of the Well a bit different from what it is the the original timeline. Some famous heroes from Reign of Chaos you will encounter, such as the twin brothers Illidan and Malfurion Stormrage, Tyrande Whisperwind, Cenarius and Mannoroth.

Day Of The Dragon
About 10 A.I.
In a magical room a gathering of six of the senior mages of the Kirin Tor took place discussing urgent matters for the Alliance of Lordaeron. A mage brought up the rumor of observatory being spotted once again. This led to the fact that crimson dragons were spreading fear amongst the people in the south of observatory, at the borders of Kobservatoryodan. All mages know these red dragons are slaves of the Orcs, who captured the Dragonqueen Alexstrasza. After discussing his liability, the mages decided to send the maverick mage Rohnin on an observatory quest into the heart of the Orc controlled realms in the former dwarvenlands.

Rhonin met Krasus, his patron, to hear about his given duty. Krasus told him his quest was to free the Dragonqueen from Grim Batol. He would get an Elven ranger to escort him to the harbor where he would be set on a ship to transport him to the shores of Khaz Modan.

Vereesa Windrunner waited for the mage. He was hours late. After he and his horse got some rest they rode towards the village. On their way they met a dragon. Their horses were eaten, but they managed to get away. First due to a spell from Rhonin, after that because of three gryphons riders coming to battle the dragon.

Lord Prestor, refugee from a northern country, sought for King Terenas to talk with him about the yet-unchosen king of Alterac, a country, left without king because of his treachery during the First War. Terenas thought of crowning him, Prestor, to king, because it seemed everyone liked him. Except for the Kirin Tor of Dalaran, but who could trust those?Back in his castle, Prestor received a highly unusual guest, for a noble of the Alliance. This goblin, Kryll, told him about the mission of Rhonin, to free Alexstrasza. Prestor said it to be perfect.

Then Rhonin and his companion were captured by the Knights of the Silver Hand. These knights had always mistrusted mages and treated Rhonin as a bandit, though Vereesa got lots of good treatment. As Rhonin walked on the wall of the camp, a sudden explosion crushed the wall and killed two guards. Rhonin was taken by a huge hand, but fainted right after it.

Though Vereesa and the knights holding him responsible for what happened searched for him, they couldn't find him. When they set up camp Rhonin dropped in the middle of the all. After he got some rest and food, he was questioned by Duncan, captain of the group of knights. Though he didn't believe Rhonin, the mage goes free because of Vereesa. As the spellcaster and the ranger tried to continue for Hasic to get to Rhonin´s ship in time, the knights insist on escorting them there.

In Dalaran the Kirin Tor heared of Lord Prestor. They didn't trust him at all and agreed to try to find out more about this refugee from the north separately. Krasus went to his room and used a crystal to get his view in the castle of this so-called noble. He found and deflected some magical traps which were defending the castle, but then the crystal went black. The blackness comes out of the crystal and attacks Krasus. After losing his fingers Krasus finally fought it off. The Forbidden Hunger was a spell which was banned from usage. Krasus realizes who Prestor is: Deathwing.

When the they came near to the coast village, the mage, Elf and knights saw it in flames and ashes. Three gryphons rode towards to them. It were the same dwarfs Rhonin and Vereesa saw fighting the Crimson beast who ate their mounts.

The Last Guardian
Around the time of the invasion
Kadghar arrived at Karazhan between the Black Morass and Forest of Elwynn: Medivh's Tower. When he arrived he met the mage's castellan, Moroes, who said people saw things in the Lonely Tower. After going up lots of stairs, Kadghar met Medivh. Medivh burned his letter which he had gotten from his masters in the Kirin Tor. He was send there to become the mage's apprentice. Medivh was honored and feared by all the mages in Kirin Tor, he was the best mage of his time, though Medivh knew exactly what was in it. Medivh asked Kadghar how it was possible. This was a test of intelligence and knowledge about magic. After that Kadghar became the wizard's assistant, surprising the newcomer about a rank lower than apprentice.

Moroes showed Kadghar his room and told him to get dinner in the dining room. After Kadghar has settled a little in his room he goes down for dinner. He saw the room where he was going to from above. As he walked down the stairs, he suddenly was somewhere completely different. The sky was red and he saw barricades with Human soldiers behind them. He was like a ghost, unable to talk with the Humans. Then he saw an old mage who nodded at him, though all the others couldn't see him. The a green wave moves over the hills at the other side of the barricades. Kadghar takes two steps back and is suddenly in the room, which he thought he would enter. Moroes was right behind him, telling him he missed dinner.

At breakfast Medivh said to Kadghar he knew him, but he didn't remember who he was. He explained this after Kadghar said his name, to be his problems, which filled up most of his mind. Kadghar's first task was to clean up the library and sort the books. Everywhere he saw marks and traces of (magical) fire. So he sorted the books first by risk of danger. Medivh was gone for two week and Kadghar finished sorting the books. When the assistant was reading a scroll of the Song of Aegwynn, Medivh entered the library and attacked Kadghar. The assistant told his master who he was and Medivh let him go, remembering he had one. Medivh made the young mage his apprentice. And then told him to go with him to the top.

With a whistle two gryphons came and Medivh told him to get up one. Kadghar, who had never learned to ride such a beast, said he couldn't. Medivh implanted the knowledge in his apprentice's head leaving a headache which would fade over time. Kadghar followed his master while they were flying over different lands. Beneath them they saw a burning camp. As they flew over it, arrows started to come out of the forest. Medivh went up in time, but his follower couldn't. An arrow hit the gryphon in his wing and they crashed on the floor. Kadghar was attacked by a being from his vision, a large green mockery of hte Human form. He kills it, but more of these creatures appear with a shaman to fight his magic. then Medivh comes for the rescue. After a short battle, they encounter Lothar, Medivh's friend and the King's Champion. Medivh took off and Lothar talked with the Kadghar. Lothar seemed to be worried about Medivh and told him about the coma the mage had when the Orcs first appeared. Medivh returned and they left.

Seven days after the battle in the swamp Kadghar told Medivh about his vision and the creatures. Medivh said they were called Orcs. Then Medivh asked his student what magic was. After some wrong answer Medivh told it could be compared to an hourglass: Then result is predictable but which piece of sand falls isn't. In his free time Kadghar researched in the library. He found some information on the Guardian but still couldn't find out what it was. On one evening another vision snuck on him. This time he saw Lothar, King Llane and Medivh sitting around a fire in their youth. They fought some Trolls and then Medivh fell into what would become his coma. After the vision Medivh told Kadghar he had to leave for an unknown period of time.

Kadghar wrote a spell during his master's absence and as he tested it, he got a vision, as planned, but not the one he requested for. It was one of Medivh's mother Aegwynn, who had lived over 800 years ago. It was a vision of her battling Sargeras. As the vision ended, Moroes was behind him telling that the mage had returned and wished to see him in the observatory.

This time they took off to Stormwind, Azeroth's capital city. They went there because two mages were killed. After some thoughts on how and who, they found out the murderer was a Demon, which was summoned apparently by the mages themselves. Then the Demon fled out the window and would be somewhere in the city. Medivh ordered Lothar to leave and the mage told Kadghar it was time to tell him about the Tirisfalen. So Medivh told about the Well of Eternity, the magic and the results of it all (for complete story, see 'Before Warcraft III'). And he told Kadghar that he was the Guardian, the protector of the world, given great powers. The mages who were slain, were part of the Order of Tirisfal.

The Well Of Eternity
War Of The Ancients; book one; 10.000 B.I.
The book starts with a introduction of a black lake, a person with pupilless eyes, a queen and Elven sorcerers, located within a palace-like fortress. Nothing else is told about it.
Krasus uses a magical Orb to watch Kalimdor. At that moment he is contacted by Nozdormu, the Aspect of Time. The dragonmage gets lots of images shown to him by the far stronger dragon. Nozdormu seeks his aid. In the meanwhile an Orcish shaman, Kalthar, has a disturbing vision en sets off to warn Thrall, his Warchief.
While Rhonin and Vereesa come to know about the twins Vereesa pregnant of, the wizard is contacted by Krasus. He refuses, but Krasus and his wife Vereesa manage to convince him he should come along with the dragon to Kalimdor. They land on an island to sleep, but during the night they get attacked by monstrous beings. They flee and fly further towards Kalimdor. As they reach their goal, the western mountain on the continent, two Orcs spot them. The two warriors were sent to investigate the area in the vision of Kalthar. One named Broxigar, a veteran soldier of the passed wars on Azeroth. The other is a young one, Gaskal. Brox´s thoughts are grim. He wishes to die on his quest to redeem himself, for he was the only one to survive a battle.
Krasus and Rhonin continue their path on the ground, after a short pause. They split up, but Rhonin is attacked by an eight-legged, four-eyed lupine. Using his magic to fend the beast off, the fast-expanding anomaly they were searching for swallows him while in mental contact with the dragonmage.

Malfurion Stormrage is thought by his Shan'Do, his teacher Cenarius. The latter is a demi-god. Illidan, Malfurion's brother is present as well. He has amber colored eyes, which is said to be an indication for him to do great things. Tyrande Whisperwind, their childhood friend, is now a novice of Elune, the Moongoddess. Both depart, and the student asks his master for advice. He has had troubling, reoccurring dreams. Thus, Cenarius teaches him how to walk the Emerald Dream, the realm of Ysera. Malfurion enters this realm and is drawn to the Well of Eternity, a magical lake, which is the source of the arcane powers used by the High-Borne, close servants of Queen Azshara. He sees them at work, during the day and with much effort, while at day, Night Elves are the weakest.
The Elven sorcerers are being observed by yet another, the Aspect of Magic, Malygos. And with him yet another feels the ripples of magic throughout the universe. He seeks to devour the source but he loses track of it.
