Raising a child in a bilingual family

Our little boy was born in March 1999 and his name is Nico. My wife being native Spanish speaker and myself a native Dutch speaker like to raise him mastering both languages. This triggered questions I had never asked myself before: How would Nico experience this? Which language to speak to Nico? Won't Nico get confused by learning two languages? Would any specialized educational material be available?
