| Comments: | Time, we know, is relative. You can travel light years through the stars and back, and if you do it at the speed of light then, when you return, you may have aged mere seconds while your twin brother or sister will have aged twenty, thirty, forty or however many years it is, depending on how far you traveled. This will come to you as a profound shock, particularly if you didn't know you had a twin brother or sister. (Douglas Adams) |

| Comments: | FANTASTIC FRIDGE !!!
FANTASTIC WEBSITE !!!
It would have been a nice touch to make the LEDs truely functional, say, to verify that the fridge light is truely off when the door is closed. :)
Or really flash when the beer is low. :) And maybe some sirens!
Of course, the truely modern fridge connects to the internet and orders the beer for you. (LG) TRUELY. |

I stumbled across Your page, but it's now bookmarked, so I will visit your page often now!

| Comments: | Fairly interesting your project " refrigerator " ! As senior partner of this company I was sometime looking on the same direction. The points on which I fail are 2:
- 1 - less important - how to get a professional look
- 2 - where accessing f.i. an fdd or a cd-rom and where place to exits f.i. for net connection, modem connection etc
How did you handle these problems ? !
I am rather puzzled to know your comments, My name is Carlo Terrile . Best regards ! |

will DIE.

cool! It's about the same idea I had when I first worked on
an IBM RS/6000, model H50: if they junk this beauty, I want
to turn it into a huge fridge. Later, when I became the
admin of a cluster of 3 HP9000's, model K580, I even thought
of building a toilet in them, after their economic lives
were over :) Too bad I still haven't had the chance to get
my hands on such a piece of equipment... |

software side. Those things were great machines at the time. But you
missed out on the real "challenge" -- Get a Challenge XL and put a REAL
beer-server in it. The Challenge series was originally supposed to be
called Axys but some folks who had survived WWII saved us from that
misfortunate name. I particularly like the Challenge monikers: S, M, L, XL
-- and DM for the Digital Media (Medium size). If you clustered a bunch of
XL's together we should have called it XXL and XXXXXL but with 128 of the
puppies in one room you couldn't hear yourself anyways.

we still have a number of Indys and a Challenge that has been through two
leaking ceilings. Since it never worked for shit anyways, getting rained
on was no big deal. I think we could make it into a good microwave oven
case, expecially if we could make use of the "ping" sound when the timer
goes off. If the ceiling leaks again, just microwave the water
off. | Thursday March 29th 2001

could do with the green LED on the front of the box. Buy yourself a

fridge. Decide on an optimal temperature for keeping beer cold and have
the green LED come on when the fridge is within the specified range. You
could have the red one come one when it wasn't. Have fun!

We've been sitting on an old SGI Crimson (same case/chassis as the
pictured Challenge, but with red highlights not blue) and have been
planning to do exactly the same exercise... just never got around to it.
Well, it was either that or find another one and make desk pedestals out
of them or something. At the moment it's just a glorified desk extension
and plant support. Now we know the nitty gritty of how to 'fridge' our
Crimson, I think we could be on again... Great page... Regards,

| Comments: Cool: ./ this ! From the last picture I see the
machine is not yet in production. What is delaying it? Maybe a security
check? In order to do that, root acces on the console of the machine while
it is in production is needed :-) | Friday
