There is a lot of hype and misinformation
surrounding online privacy issues. We'd like to clarify some
general points first, and then discuss NCNP's policies regarding
privacy and anonymity on our Web site.
In general, it is very difficult
for someone to discover who you are exactly while surfing the
Web. While certainly software and technologies exist to trace
everything sent to and from your computer (called "packet
sniffers"), few people use these to any great extent because
of the sheer size of Internet traffic.
Most Web sites you visit know you
only by your Internet service provider's domain name or Internet
protocol (IP) address. This means that if you are a subscriber
to America OnLine, you are known only as one of 11 million possible
users. If you subscribe to a smaller Internet service provider,
you may be known as only one of a few hundred users. Nonetheless,
no specific identifying information is known about you (e.g.,
your e-mail address or name) without you entering it in on a
Web site you visit. We have no way of knowing who specifically
is on our Web site at any given moment in time. All we can tell
is that 4 users from AOL are on, 2 users from CompuServe are
on, and a dozen users from various smaller ISPs from around the
world are on. We have no access to any of these service's membership
listings to cross-reference.

to their online privacy. All information you give NCNP is kept
strictly confidential. Specifically, we will not sell or make
otherwise available any information you provide to us for use
by any third party for any reason whatsoever.
Because we hold your privacy in the
highest regard here at NCNP, we regularly purge our customer
database of inactive accounts. We also limit our backups of this
information and all user contacts through our Web site, keeping
only what we need for statistical reporting.
We respect the rights of anonymity
online and will make no effort to verify anybody's real life
identity, ever. While we ask for real life information (e.g.,
your name and e-mail address) so that we can reply to you in
answerering your questions, we will act very conservatively in
initiating any contact with you whatsoever. Instead, we will
rely on you to contact us in case you need any of our services.
We believe every individual who goes
online has the right to remain anonymous if he or she chooses.
