At the place Vendôme in Paris many festivities and festivals are held every year.
With the inauguration of the Marini exhibition in 1994, the place became an open air art gallery too. Sponsored by illy,
the Ceramica I cup was released for this occassion.
Italian sculptor Marino Marini (born 1901 in Pistoia, died 1980 in Viareggio) had a one man
exhibition at the Curt Valentin Gallery in New York in 1955. Two years later Marino Marini
won the Grand Prize for scuplture at the Venice Biennale. Marini had two main themes,
the horse and rider which allowed him to explore interdependence between man and nature.
The design of the Ceramica I cup is a reproduction of the original 1955 lithograph (66 X 50.5 cm) that was printed
in a limited edition of 50 hand signed and numbered impressions.
