Unfortunately, I have bad news. This page is no longer being maintained. I was fed up working on it and my initial thought was to delete it. However, I did spend a lot of time building the site and I would not want that work to go to waste. I have written this to explain my reasons for quitting, I feel I owe the few people who cared that much.
When I started the site, I was optimistic: there was no Nicholle Tom site and I felt one was needed. So I made The Unofficial Nicholle Tom Homepage and hoped it would become a success. However, response was limited, which was not a good start. A lot of upgrades and updates were made over the past few months. Most of them did not spawn much response either. When I finally added a screensaver to my site, an addition which pleased me greatly (even though it cost me $30!), I did not even get any response to that!
Another update was the quest book. I made it so that visitors who liked my site could show that. It is normal to sign the guest books of the sites you visit. However, few people signed it, which I interpreted as a sign that hardly anyone visited (or actually liked) the site. Several of the entries are only in there because I asked that person to sign my guest book. But a few of the persons I asked to sign it did not even bother to do that!
Then there is another reason for quitting, a reason which is partly related to the first. From the moment the site was on-line until the moment it went off-line, I had contact with several other webmasters who supplied me with a lot of images. After a while, some of them no longer sent me the new Nicholle images they used on their sites. They did not have a Nicholle Tom site, just one that was related to her (such as various Nanny sites.) I always sent them images they needed for their sites, even after they started hogging photos for themselves. When I asked if they could return the favor, they just ignored me. If you are truly a Nicholle Tom fan, you will do anything you can to help the owner of the only Nicholle Tom site to make the best site possible. That fact that they did not do so, shows me that they did not really care about Nicholle, her site or her fans.
I am a HUGE Nicholle Tom fan, a fact that I have demonstrated by building this site. A lot of webmasters have fast computers and site-creation programs which make designing a web site VERY simple. I only had a 120mhz computer with MSword for this site. That made it EXTREMELY difficult to build a decent site. But I forged ahead anyway, overcame the obstacles, and created a site I was proud of.
To stop working on the site hurts me greatly. But it would be illogical to spend time working on a site when hardly anyone appreciates my hard work. Not even my feelings and devotion for Nicholle can obscure the fact that the site is clearly not meant to be. It was fun while it lasted, but now it is over.
I want to thank the few people who have always supported my site. These are in random order: Raymond, Nel, Janneke and Henry. Thanks a lot for supporting my site and for your suggestions, which helped to improve it! Your support kept me going for all of these months. But not even your support can prevent the demise of the site.
