After your last adventure (Ultizurk II) you've just returned to your chambers at the Wizard's Guild to take a nap.
When you enter your chambers you find a strange book on the floor.
All it shows on the cover is the image of a little volcano and the word: "History". When you open the book you start to read about a society that exists in the inside of an old volcano that has died down and sunk into the ocean.
Inside this mountain there are many different levels, caverns, passages and chambers. On most levels peaceful societies have formed and the people are devoting their time to learning and love.
Among these people "The Great Archmage Leomund" has found his home.

After reading this book you see a scroll hidden in the back of the book.
It's the diary of Leomund, the Archmage.
He writes in this diary about strange and threatening things that are happening in the Underland.

The people became anxious and some concern or idea has entered their minds.
They are forming strange guilds and are using a system of passwords to communicate with each other: "distrust is rising".
In his diary Leomund writes about his efforts to find out what is going wrong in the Underland.
In the Lycaeum he has read a book about "the mystical pool of rainbows". These are portals through which powerful beings from other dimensions can enter a world and conquer it.
Surely such a rainbow pool doesn't exist in the Underland?
These pools can be used by beings of enormous powers....

"And yet, unknown wizards of the elden days didst create a ritual of unknown origin that canst be applied for the Destruction of such a pool of rainbows, for he who knoweth what to seek, and how to use it. Yet who would dare such a quest, should my suspicions prove justified".

After you've read all of this you fall asleep wondering why you've never heard of this place before.......

When the game starts, you'll find yourself (magically summoned) on the first level of the "Great Ultizurkian Underland".
It is your task to find out what's wrong and why the people are behaving as strange as they are.
On the first levels you'll have to talk to all NPC's (Non Player Characters) and they'll give you a password for someone else on the next level.
After that the game gets a lot more exciting.
You must solve puzzles, find hidden items and fight all kinds of different monsters on the levels where no people live.

The Great Ultizurkian Underland is the third game in the Ultizurk series.
These are all shareware games, created by Robert Deutsch, a.k.a. Dr Dungeon.
You play the game only with your keyboard.
The commands are quite simple and easy in use.
You carry a sort of pack where the items you find or buy are stored.
You can ready or wear your weapons and armor and use all kind of items like that.
At most levels you'll find an armorer that sells and buys weapons and armory.
Food can be found at different locations and is only needed to restore your hitpoints.
Your amount of Mana, needed to cast spells, will increase each time your character reaches a higher level.
There are also certain items that will restore your Mana- and Hitpoints.
By sleeping in an Inn your health and Mana will be restored to full strength. You do need to have food in your backpack for this though.

If you have enough experience points, you should visit Lord Baldwin at the first level.
If you use the word "Advance" to him, he will raise your level.

Some thoughts:

The great Ultizurkian Underland is a shareware game.
In this particular case you can download the game and play it for free.
You should however also register the game.
If you pay ONLY 30 dollars to the author of this game, you don't just get the registration for this game, but you get the entire Ultizurk series.
This means: FIVE games for just 30 dollars.
If you register this game, you'll also support the creation of more games like this.

I must say that I found this game a lot more fun then a lot of Commercial RPG's.
If you like the Ultima series and some of the Nintendo RPG's, I think you'll have fun with this game.
Finally: I've played this game under Windows '95 without any problems.
There's a very simple way to adjust the speed of the game, in the game itself.
This means you can play the game on a fast computer without having to download Mo'slo.

Solution:

Since there are some puzzles in the game that are difficult to solve, I've written a helpfile with the solutions of all the puzzles in the game.
Of course this helpfile contains many spoilers!!!!!!
