Brief Description
Joel was baptised as Joel Henry Trevan in 1843, and named after an elder brother who was born and died in 1841. The index to civil registration entry of his birth records him simply as Joel Trevan. He emigrated to Australia on "The Rajah" in c1848 with his parents and the rest of his family.
According to his great-granddaughter Rosemary Spencer, he was known as Carew, was a teacher, and signed himself as JH Carew Trevan. All of his children were born in Horsham, Victoria, Australia
