The Davey / Trevan Connection at Crafthole and Sheviock

Maps of the Area and Other References

Sheviock (1775-1980 or later)

Sheviock is an agricultural parish lying between the southern banks of the river Lynher to the north and the English Channel to the south. St. Germans lies to the west and Antony to the east. The parish covers a number of small villages and today Crafthole is the largest.

The Trevan family and the descendants of the female Trevan's had a long association with the parish of Sheviock. To read about it, press here

In particular, two Trevan sisters married two Davey boys at the start of the 19th century.

The census records show that Henry Davey was the blacksmith at Crafthole, and that it passed down to his children. The parish records show that he was Parish Clerk for most of his adult life, and that he also performed many repairs on the church bells. He is buried beneath a headstone which is close to the main entrance of the church.

As well as the Davey children who were born to the female Trevan's there were also other Davey children who were baptised in the parish. The list below is presented in chronological order and contains a mixture of baptisms, marriages and burials.
