Brief Description of the Family

His birth was registered in the Launceston registration district in 3Q1874. At the time of the 1881 census he was recorded as a 6 year old scholar living with his family at Priest Hill, St Breward. The census data gives his place of birth as Temple. But when he married on Boxing Day 1900 he gave his age as 27, whereas from civil registration and census data it should have been 26.

When they married both Thomas and Beatrice gave their address as 4 Essex St and his profession was given as mechanic. Later he was described as a labourer. On the Civil Registration for marriages he is recorded as John Thomas, but his birth is as Thomas John, as is the church register entry and the entries for the baptisms of his children.
