Brief Description of the Family

Samuel was baptised on 6 Jan 1829, son of Joseph and Mary. He married Christian Bray. From the birth certificates for sons Joseph and William, the family lived at High Lanes in the parish of Phillack. Samuel was described as a copper miner. Both Samuel and Christian made their mark on the certificates as they were illiterate.

The family emigrated to Australia on the Lightning in Sep 1866, but the entry has been transcribed under the name TREVAN. Christian's name also changed to Christina at the same time. There was also a 30 year old Mary Ann Trevan who emigrated on the same trip. It seems that Samuel did an exploratory trip earlier in Jun 1863 on the Istanboul, when he was recorded as Samuel Trevean aged 35.

Samuel died (on 21 Jan 1874?) at Eaglehawk of Typhoid Fever. His widow Christina died on 28 Dec 1912, aged 84.
