This is the personal website of Dr. Walter W. van den Broek, MD, PhD. He is a psychiatrist. He works in the Erasmus MC, a University Hospital in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
His dissertation was on on “Treatment of depressed inpatients, efficacy and tolerability of a four step treatment algorithm” at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Since 1995 he was a member of professional committees of the Netherlands Psychiatric Association including the Section Consultation- and Liaison Psychiatry and the Scientific Committee. Founder and secretary of the Dutch Workgroup for Electroconvulsive therapy. Under auspices of the Netherlands Psychiatric Association, in 2000 the Practice guideline Electroconvulsive therapy was published, of which steering group he was the chairman.He has a blog mostly about the treatment of depression, the use of electroconvulsive therapy, education of residents and medical students, and book- and film reviews.
