Pernambucq or Pernambuco is in Brazil. It became a Dutch trading post in 1629. A lot of information on the attempts by the Dutch to colonise this area can be found on a special website on Pernambuco (in English). Did our ancestors intermarry with the native population; were they Portugese and/or Dutch settlers, or a mixture of all these?
