Albertus became "poorter" of Amsterdam, 24-12-1734, "chirurgijn" on 14-1-1735, "vroedmeester" and eventually dean of the Amsterdam Guild of "Chirurgijns", like his uncle Abraham. He was the most experienced and careful master in his art the Dutch Republic had ever known, according to Professor Hieronymus David Gaubius, the personal physician of the ruling Dutch "Stadhouder" Prince Willem V of Orange-Nassau. On 23-3-1769, Albertus Titsingh was called to the court in The Hague to assist at the birth of the first child of Princess Frederica Wilhelmina Sophia of Prussia, the Stadholder's wife, because there were complications. Albertus could not save the baby, a boy who's head was too big to pass through in a natural way, and who had died by the time Albertus had managed to let it be born. Although this could have had serious consequences, considering the importance for Prince William of having a potential heir and successor, Albertus Titsingh and Professor Gaubius were not in any way blamed. (An interesting article by Prof. dr. F.B. Lammes on this unhappy event was published in "Het Nederlandse Tijdschrift voor de Geneeskunde" on 20-4-2004, based on a recently discovered document in the "Koninklijk Huisarchief".)
Later, Albertus Titsingh assisted (was "accoucheur") at the birth of the later King Willem I in 1772. At the time of his marriage to Elisabeth Bakelaar, Albertus was living in "Buycksloot" (Buiksloot) near Amsterdam. He was buried in the "Grote Kerk" in Haarlem on 5-5-1790, probably next to Elisabeth who had died 12 years earlier.
