Welcome to my personal
website!

Hi there! Let me first
introduce to you. My artistname is Dr. Coenobite.
Coenobite is derived from an old Greek word and means Monk. I am a
Dutch multi-instrumentalist. And yep, also with a true Ph.D. degree
in medicine, but who likes even more to make music. Especially, the
socalled progeressive rock, mostly instrumental music with
classical, rock, jazzy and ambient-like influences in the tradition
of Camel, Gandalf and Mike Oldfield.
Those of you with a long-term memory will remember my previous
releases back in the early nineties. My first steps in recording
were expressed by the release of a democassette
‘Turn the Page', an accepted medium for
demos in those days. A few years later followed by
‘My Habit’ and
‘Castles in the Air’, both released on
CD.
In these Early Years the level of sound production of these two
albums was somewhat disappointing. Nevertheless, I sold enough
copies of these albums to invest in a small but private homestudio,
named of course
The Monastery. In those days not quite
common. In this more relaxed environment I was able to develop and
improve my musical creations and recording techniques. In the last
two decades I produced another ten albums in my own
homestudio.
Note: Some pictures are shown in the Gallery-section, because I
also wanted to reveal the man behind the mask: A Coenobite without
his Habit!
