After a weeks driving around through Englands beautifulst
places and through the Highlands off Scotland we arrived
at the westerly most point off Mull - the isle of Erraid.
What a remarkable place this is, so bright and sunny.
The reunion with the community was great, like we never
left their at all. The little lighthouse keepers houses were
still there, but you could see all the changes going on,
this place was buzzing with energy. We saw the new herbgarden
getting its colours and there was a little teahouse taking
shape. It was very nice to be back in the house we stayed
before, good old number 7. When we arrived there we just
a handfull of guests, there were some longterm volunteers.
They must have had a harsh winter because the pieces tape
were still sticking on the windows and their was a little
piece of toiletpaper in the keyhole of the door, blocking
the cold northern winds.
And yet the trees were greener and the flowers were in bloom
already. The warm gulfstream gave the island a little jetstart
at the season. The dafodils were just barely above ground
in France and here they were in their full flower display.
Statying in good old number 7 was great fun. The cats Dragon
and Tabby were sploiled rotten by the people and still they
put up their "we havent been fed for ages" look.
We had to share the house with two longterm volunteers and
we had a very good time with them. Its amazing how many friendly
people you meet from all over the world. They were picking
up dutch aswell and Evelien picked up some english from them.
On the photo you can see some cows on Mull, the row of lighthouse cottages,
the walled garden, and the inner garden and a greenhouse were they grow
their seedlings.
