FINDHORN COMMUNITY SPRING 2004

The pictures below show some more Findhorn building and eco architecture. The round whiskey barrel houses are great. The are made out of old whiskey barrels and used as a base for the new houses. The nature sanctuary is also a little wonder. This from the outside small looking building is neatly designed and made up from stappled stones. The inside is surprisingly spaceous and light, its used for meditation and the Taize singing.

The last new housingproject is a project of fairly new houses which are build on sold land plots. It looks like the Findhorn Foundation needed to generate money and sold some of its land to new residents. The new residents build some very big new eco buildings on it and one can wonder if they fit in well with the rest of the park. I think its a little too much like Holland: big houses and a little bit of land for yourself. I thought the main idea about an ecovillage also was the we would share and mix, set our sights on alternative ways of living.

But thats all Findhorn, its everything you want it to be. But no matter what house you life in; the people are great everywhere. I have seldomly mett so many nice people as on Erraid and Findhorn. The best way to get to know them is to join in on the activities. We followed the short term guest programm and worked in the Cullern Gardens. It also gives you the oppertunity to eat in the Community Centre and get to know the people.
